Zapogon Fraser, 1972

Fraser 1972 described Zapogon on page 23 in the 1972 journal article, "Comparative osteology of the shallow water cardinal fishes [Perciformes: Apogonidae] with reference to the systematics and evolution of the family", originally placing the subgenus in the Apogon Lacépède, 1801.
